Sale Common - River Heritage & Wetlands Trail
The internationally listed wetlands of the Sale Common host a combination of freshwater marsh and red gum woodlands which support an enormous variety of birdlife. Get up close and personal at the bird hides as you stroll along a boardwalk in this magnificent wetlands area.

Sale Common is located on the South Gippsland Hwy (A440), just south of Sale. You can commence the walk from a number of points including the Port of Sale, Lake Guthridge and the South Gippsland Hwy near Cox’s Bridge.
No fees, permits or bookings required
Parking, picnic and toilet facilities at each end. The closest car park to the boardwalk and best wheelchair and pram access is at the eastern end where there is plenty of room to park.
Level 2 - No experience required. The track is hardened gravel or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section or sections and some steps. Walks up to 10km.
The boardwalk can be slippery during wet and frosty conditions
Pets and firearms not permitted. Please observe fire restrictions.
